Initial Notes from Storage and Transport

Big chill

Large Freight for long haul, four storage facility s around the country at the moment, Christchurch, Cromwell, Auckland and Wellington, Wellington and Cromwell are just small and more of a Depot then anything else.
It was recommended to contact small provincial Transport and storage as they are limited to the rural sites that they would go to unless it was a large (truck and trailer) pick up.
Things to think about is packaging, is unit sizes when dealing with the likes of chilly bins, any blood outside of the packaging is a big big no. Furs and Carcasses must be transported separately. Extra cost when dealing with returning chill units.

The New Zealand Cold Storage Associations is made up of companies in the storage and transport of chilled and frozen meat, dairy, seafood, horticultural and other products requiring controlled temperature storage environments.

Associate membership is also open to companies or individuals involved with providing goods, services or technical expertise which complement the industry.

Annual Subscriptions

Our membership year spans the period between 1 January and December 31.

Membership is open to all companies involved in the storage handling or transport of chilled or frozen products.  The subscription for Membership is $960.00 plus GST per annum for Corporates (3 or more sites) and $600 plus GST for all other companies.

Associate Membership is open to any company involved in servicing the cool and cold storage industry. The subscription for Associate Membership is $440.00 plus GST per annum.

Customers to organize transport. No access to storage facilities except for prior arrangement. Again packaging must be secure and sealed and volume is by pallet. All must adhere to RMP and MPI regulations
