Once we source the meat the step is processing.
For processing we need to consider:
Chilled transport
An abattoir or our own processing facility
A way to store meat that hasn't been sold
What are the products we sell - is it mince cubes? offal? mixes, bones?

From here we could either create a product e.g. dog roll, or process the meat into a stage where it could be sold to pets as is. This would look like frozen bones, raw meat cubes, and wild mince mixes (includes offal).
We could either sell directly to the public or wholesale to existing pet food manufactures. If we are relying on the bulk of our meat to be donated from hunts this means we would either have a place to store the meat until it is sold or aim to sell it all in a short amount of time - this would probably be more feasibly done by selling to an existing manufacturer.
Whether we have consistant stock would also rely on our donation system and whether we could afford to hire hunters to keep up our supply.
Other notes:
Selling directly to public would make a greater return but selling to a manufacturer would make our jobs easier. The precedent below show their is scope for either.
To become a supplier we need an certificate from MPI

Home Delivery brings natural, premium pet food right to your door. This service was established in 1981, and the Home Delivery team consists of passionate pet people completely dedicated to the health and welfare of New Zealand’s cats and dogs. We provide a wide range of products tailored to our philosophy that nature knows best: we believe that by feeding our pets the type of natural, meaty diet they would eat in the wild we can help ensure they thrive.
Our different products provide a range of different nutrients. From poultry to lamb, offal to ground-up bone, Home Delivery is a convenient way to control the makeup of your pet’s diet. You can buy offal on its own (e.g. heart, tripe), or purchase products that have offal blended in with the meat already. Check out our range of edible bones that support dental health and that also provide a novel stimulation. If you do not feed whole edible bone to your pet but still want to supply the kind of nutrients only bone can provide, try one of our products that contain ground-up bone; it is highly digestible and very nutritious!

Fordes petfood
Over the years we have we have done a lot of alterations to the factory and the business to get where we are today. We have our own standalone pet food processing factory about 20km from Winton. We also have our own small super market label. Our boneless beef products has been exported to Thailand, Korea. Some of our current bulk markets include other pet food operators in Auckland, Christchurch and Tauranga. These operators then process it further for their own super market orders including processing it for the American market.
